EL2 – Leclerc’s turn to lead a Ferrari double at Spa

The followers of the Formula 1 got used to it, Ferrari often dominates Friday training sessions. This was again the case this Friday August 30 on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit (Belgium). After Sebastian Vettel in Free Practice 1, Charles Leclerc took over during the afternoon.

The Monegasque recorded a fantastic time of 1'44"123 and built up a huge lead of 630 thousandths over his colleague in red. As could be expected, the Mercedes increased their pace, with the presence in third and fourth row of Valtteri Bottas et Lewis Hamilton. The latter was not affected by mechanical problems, which demonstrates clear progress among the Silver Arrows.

Behind, we could have predicted the appearance of Red Bull. Gold, it's rather the surprising Sergio Pérez, which confirms the skills of Racing Point (ex-Force India) on the Toboggan des Ardennes!

The Mexican should have had a smile this evening; unfortunately, a serious mechanical breakdown (probably linked to the Mercedes engine) marred the end of his session. The red flag was even waved five minutes from time to allow the clearance of the car

It also seems that an overheating fault is affecting the Racing Points. A few moments earlier, Lance stroll complained about a " burnt smell " inside the cockpit.

With its medium tires, Max Verstappen is in sixth place, ahead of veteran Kimi Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo, definitely in shape despite his wrinkled muscle). Daniel Ricciardo place Renault in the top 10, ahead of the newcomer at Red Bull, Alexander albon

Meanwhile, Romain Grosjean, 13th, continues to be the best representative Haas. The return home Toro Rosso is obviously difficult for Pierre Gasly (17th), who lets his teammate Daniil Kvyat (14th) slip away.
