After a first Free Practice session marked by a 30-minute red flag, the drivers were back on the Zandvoort circuit this afternoon. Best time during this morning's session, Lewis Hamilton completed only three laps before seeing his car immobilized at turn 8 due to a power unit problem, causing a first red flag for around ten minutes. Just before this interruption, his teammate Valtteri Bottas had recorded the first reference time of the afternoon (1:11.664), before improving it to 1:11.353 thanks to new red tires.
Esteban Ocon is the second driver to achieve the best time (1:11.074) after half an hour of Free Practice. In the same round, his compatriot Pierre Gasly climbs into the top 4 with a time of 1:11.648. The second red flag of the afternoon was caused by a mazepin at the 11th turn. Upon resumption, Charles Leclerc is the first driver of the weekend to go under one minute and eleven seconds. The Monegasque took the lead in Free Practice with a time of 1:10.902. As is often the case at the end of the second Free Practice session, the drivers completed long stints to test their racing pace.
Charles Leclerc's time will not be beaten. The Monegasque wins the second Free Practice session (1:10.902) ahead of his teammate Carlos Sainz Jr (1:11.056) and Esteban Ocon (1:11.074). Valtteri Bottas places himself in fourth position (1:11.132) ahead Max Verstappen (1: 11.264). Fernando Alonso (1:11.280), Pierre Gasly (1:11.462), Lando Norris (1:11.488), Antonio Giovinazzi (1:11.678) and Sebastian Vettel (1:11.713) complete the top10.
