FP2: Rosberg makes a mistake in Melbourne

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) was only able to complete half an hour of testing in Melbourne during the second practice session for the Australian Grand Prix, which was still contested on a wet track. The German lost the rear of his W07 Hybrid at the exit of turn 7 and damaged his front wing when hitting the wall. The team asked him to stop on the track to avoid sanction from the stewards.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) remained the fastest of the day after completing a lap of Albert Park in 1'38"841. It is Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) who was closest to the three-time world champion with half a second behind. Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) completes the top three, a tenth behind the German, preceding Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) and Carlos Sainz Jr. (Toro Rosso).

The McLaren de Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button are close to the top five, preceding Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) and Sergio Pérez (Force India). Daniil Kvyat (Red Bull) completes the top ten ahead of Esteban Gutiérrez (Haas). Pascal Wehrlein (Manor) ranks 12th ahead Romain Grosjean (Haas) and Rio Haryanto (Manor).

Nico Rosberg is the last driver to set a time. THE Renault de Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer as well as the Williams by Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas finish the session without the slightest time. Max Verstappen (Toro Rosso) and the Saubers of Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr did not even complete a lap.
