EL2: Verstappen and Red Bull at the forefront at Spa

Max Verstappen (Red Bull) set the best time on the first day of testing for the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps. The Dutchman completed a lap in 1'48''085, more than two tenths better than the time achieved in the first session by Nico Rosberg, and was ahead of his teammate by the same margin. Nico Hulkenberg was the closest of the RB12s with half a second behind and confirms Force India's good start to the weekend, his teammate Sergio Pérez completing the top five just behind Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).

Nico Rosberg only placed first Mercedes W07 Hybrid only in sixth place while its teammate Lewis Hamilton finished 13th. The two title contenders worked on the race and did not use the softest tires.

Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) follows in seventh position ahead Romain Grosjean (Haas), Jenson Button and Esteban Gutiérrez (Haas). Pascal Wehrlein (Manor) finished just outside the top ten, ahead of his new teammate by almost a second Esteban Ocon.
