FP3 – Bottas ahead of the McLarens, mechanical failure for Ricciardo

The domination of Mercedes in free practice has come to an end. At the top of the timesheets on Friday, the Silver Arrows did not once again outperform the field this Saturday on the Italian track.

Si Valtteri Bottas set the best time in EL3 in 1’20”089, Lewis Hamilton fell to 5th position, more than three tenths behind his teammate. Between the two Silver Arrows are interposed the McLaren de Carlos Sainz (+ 0“229) and Lando Norris (+ 0“323) as well as the Renault de Daniel Ricciardo (+ 0“330) who was unable to complete the session.

Victim of a mechanical breakdown, the Renault driver was forced to stop on the track with just under ten minutes to go, forcing the marshals to wave the red flag.

Leaving less than five minutes from the checkered flag, the drivers were able to improve their times like the Racing Points of Lance stroll and Sergio Pérez, respectively 9th and 10th in EL3.

Fifth of the first two sessions, Max Verstappen still cannot find the right balance of its car. The pilot Red Bull had to settle for 6th position just ahead of his teammate Alexander albon.

Like Friday, the Ferraris failed to enter the Top 10. The first SF1000 in the ranking is that of Charles Leclerc in 11th place. Sebastien's Hag is only in 15th position. The qualifications promise to be very complicated for the Team.

On the French side, the best time is to the credit ofEsteban Ocon. The Renault driver finished the session in 8th place. Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) and Romain Grosjean (Haas) are 12th and 14th.
