Lewis Hamilton improved the Austrian GP practice benchmark in the final session. The Mercedes W11s remain above the fray.

EL3 – Hamilton and Mercedes keep control at the Red Bull Ring

The Mercedes W11 remained the fastest in FP3 of the Austrian GP. Lewis Hamilton improved the test reference with a turn of the Red Bull Ring completed in 1'04''130 with the soft tires, improving by 2 tenths its performance from the day before. His teammate Valtteri Bottas was the closest, just over a tenth behind the six-time world champion.

It is Max Verstappen (Red Bull) who was the closest to the Silver Arrows by ranking almost 3 tenths from the reference, while preceding the Racing Point of Sergio Pérez. Charles Leclerc hoisted the first Ferrari in 5th place, more than half a second behind the Briton, ahead of Alexander albon (Red Bull) and Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari).

Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) finished the session in 9th position between Lance stroll (Racing Point) and Lando Norris (McLaren) which preceded the Renault byEsteban Ocon and Daniel Ricciardo surrounded by the second McLaren of Carlos Sainz Jr.

Romain Grosjean (Haas) ranked in 15th position between Daniil Kvyat (AlphaTauri) and George Russell (Williams), ahead of his teammate Kevin Magnussen by almost 3 tenths. THE Alfa Romeo of Antonio Giovinazzi and Kimi Räikkönen completed the ranking ahead of Nicholas latifi.

The new Williams recruit was only able to participate in the first part of the session after going off the track and hitting the tire wall at the exit of the first corner, causing the session to be interrupted for a few minutes. The rookie has already left the medical center.

 

 

 

Qualifying for the Austrian GP will be contested from 15 p.m. French time and will be followed live with our live text.
