EL3 – Gasly surprise in Baku, Verstappen at fault

Big surprise at the top of the timesheet. Pierre Gasly set the best time in EL3 with a 1.42.251. He is ahead Sergio Perez, which confirms the good times achieved yesterday. The Mexican driver, however, failed more than 3 tenths behind the Alpha Tauri driver. Hamilton completes the top 3 and gives a little color to a Mercedes in great difficulty in Azerbaijan. Note that the English driver benefited from an aspiration in the last sector, which would have made him gain 6 tenths according to his team. Conversely, Bottas having obtained no advantage linked to the aspiration only ranks 13th position, one second behind his teammate.
Both Ferrari remain behind in ambush and complete the top 5. Charles Leclerc ahead of his teammate by 2 tenths. We then find the first McLaren with Lando Norris in 1.43.011.
Little surprise behind since we find Alonso with its Alpine. In great difficulty in Monaco, the Spanish driver seems to have regained a little confidence and ranks 7th ahead of tsunoda, Or with et Ricciardo.
The session was marked by the accident of Max Verstappen mid-session during EL3. He will have only completed 6 laps and will not have the perfect preparation for this afternoon's qualifying. Although in the images we can see the bent right front suspension, no official information has been given on the severity of the damage at the level of the car of the championship leader. A mishap which stopped the good momentum of the Dutch driver, who said he was full of confidence after Friday.

As since the start of the weekend, the yellow flags kept coming during these FP3, and the teams will have to pay attention to this detail in order not to be trapped during a fast lap.
Between Verstappen's mishap and Mercedes' difficulties in completing a lap, you will have to be present to follow the qualifying session from 14 p.m.
