EL3 in Monaco: Leclerc in the lead but under investigation, Vettel in the wall

When it doesn't want... Charles Leclerc will certainly approach the qualifications of its national meeting with the best time of EL3 in its pocket. But since no one is a prophet in his country, the Monegasque is under investigation by the commissioners for not having respected the Virtual Safety Car (VSC) procedure triggered following the accident suffered by his teammate Sebastian Vettel.

The German actually crashed his Ferrari into the wall at Ste-Dévote during the first part of the session, damaging his left front suspension in his misfortune. His young neighbor in the garage, for his part, risks a step back on the grid if he is found guilty by the event officials. Perfect but painful symbol of this season which definitely does not smile at the Team for the time being.

Leclerc is ahead of Mercedes de Valtteri Bottas et Lewis Hamilton, and as Red Bull de Max Verstappen et Pierre Gasly, less than half a second separating the top five. Behind, a great performance from Antonio Giovinazzi. Lacking success since the start of the season, the ItalianAlfa Romeo slams the 6th time, ahead of a solid Daniil Kvyat.

His teammate Alexander albon confirms the good arrangements of Toro Rosso with the 10th beat. Between the STR14s slips the Haas de Kevin Magnussen and the Alfa of veteran Kimi Räikkönen. THE Renault fail at the door of the Top 10, Nico Hulkenberg et Daniel Ricciardo occupying 11th and 12th ranks respectively.

Four small tenths cover the drivers classified from 6th to 14th place where Vettel fails after his accident. In the tricolor clan, Romain Grosjean finished 13th at the wheel of his Haas. Disappointment for McLaren and especially Racing Point, which is struggling to get ahead of the restive Williams.
