EL3: Rosberg finishes just ahead of Verstappen

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) maintained the best time in free practice for the Singapore Grand Prix. The German finished two tenths off his time set in the second session but was only ahead by half a tenth. Max Verstappen (Red Bull).

La Team Ferrari also appears to be in the qualifying match as Kimi Räikkönen set the third fastest time, half a second behind the leading W07 Hybrid, which means a close battle for pole. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) and Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) completed the top five, with the four-time world champion suffering from oversteer in this session.

Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) only finished eighth behind Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) and Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso). The Briton made mistakes twice, however avoiding contact with the rails by missing his braking.

Carlos Sainz Jr (Toro Rosso) and Valtteri Bottas (Williams) complete the top ten ahead of Sergio Pérez (Force India) and Fernando Alonso (McLaren). Esteban Gutierrez (Haas) took 13th place but his teammate Romain Grosjean, who barely drove the day before, only finished 18th while criticizing the behavior of his VF16.

Felipe Massa (Williams) ranked 14th ahead Kevin Magnussen (Renault), Jenson Button (McLaren) and Felipe Nasr (Sauber). Marcus Ericsson (Sauber) is 19th ahead of Jolyon Palmer (Renault).

The Manor complete the table with Pascal Wehrlein ahead of his teammate Esteban Ocon by three tenths despite contact with the wall for the German at the start of the session.
