EL3 – Verstappen with a short header, Gasly stopped

Rarely Red Bull had never shown themselves to be so efficient in tests! After Daniel Ricciardo Friday afternoon is Max Verstappen who set the best time of all, during the last free practice session in Mexico City (Mexico). With a time of 1’17”113, the Dutchman set a new lap record. The fight at the top of the timesheet bodes well for a fierce battle for qualifying: Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) only points to seven hundredths, Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) to a tenth.

Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) are in ambush. Esteban Ocon (Force India) is just behind his teammate Sergio Pérez in 8th place. Note the rise in speed of Brendon Hartley (Toro Rosso): the world champion ofEndurance in LM P1 was faster than the experienced Felipe Massa (Williams). Romain Grosjean (Haas) rode four tenths than his teammate Kevin Magnussen, which suffered from gastroenteritis the day before.

The first minutes were disrupted by mechanical problems of Pierre Gasly (Toro Rosso). The Frenchman, already penalized by fifteen places on the grid for changing the electrical control unit as well as the MGU-H, did not set any time. A plume of blue smoke escaped the Toro Rosso exhaust during its installation lap.

The qualifications will be followed live with our live text from 20 p.m. French time.
