With its second position, Lando Norris offer to McLaren his 50th double in Formula 1, Oscar piastri having transformed his pole into victory on the Shanghai International Circuit. "There were two hot moments in this race, said the Briton after the arrival. There was the start of course, it went as I hoped at the first corner." The number 4 was able to stay in contact with his teammate, but it was in the pits that the race took a decisive turn. "Then there was the stop. I was a little nervous because our pace was better on the second stint, he said. Few people expected a single stop today, we were fast throughout the race."
Norris tried to get back to Piastri, without success: "I tried to get closer [to Oscar Piastri] but in the end, I couldn't." While the result is excellent for the team, the Australian confirms to his teammate that he will be a force to be reckoned with this season. However, the Englishman maintains his team spirit. "It doesn't matter much now [that he didn't win], Oscar deserves his victory, he told F1. He drove really well all weekend. I'm happy to be second today. These are good points for the team and a huge thank you to everyone wearing papaya orange."
Scare at the end of the race for Norris
While Norris was securing a one-two for the Woking team, an unforeseen event almost changed the situation: a brake pedal malfunction suggested the worst. “It was scary, losing my brakes is my worst nightmare, he revealed. The last few laps were tough, but we survived, and I was able to finish. I was hoping to put more pressure on Oscar, but oh well, I'm happy with the result and we'll try our luck next time." More fear than harm, thanks to his lead, the n°4 was able to afford to lose pace to cross the finish line without an accident, maintaining a little over a second ahead of George Russell (Mercedes).

Unsurprisingly, a McLaren one-two! Anything that's taken is no longer to be taken in view of the 2025 titles...
