In memory of Jules

Under a gentle Provençal sun and a stone's throw from the seafront that could be seen in the background, spectators responded to the call from Jules Bianchi's loved ones. 

The association founded in memory of the late Niçois had arranged to meet at the André-Deferrari stadium in Bandol for a charity match between a team of drivers – including the current holders Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly, and Daniel Ricciardo – to a group of multidisciplinary athletes and former athletes including Jerome Fernandez, former historic captain of the French handball team, or the rugby player Maxime Mermoz. 

Played in a good-natured atmosphere, the game ended with a score of 7-3 in favor of the All-Stars team. Note the nice goal scored in the first half like a surface fox by Gasly, who hesitated between football and karting in his younger years before opting for car racing. 

The important thing was naturally elsewhere since it was above all a question of honoring the memory of Jules Bianchi by supporting the association which bears his name. From this point of view too, the operation was successful and the profits from the friendly meeting will be donated to the Archet hospital in Nice.
