Enzo Ferrari died 30 years ago

The 14 August 1988, Maranello is in mourning. Enzo Ferrari, founder of the Italian brand, dies at the age of 90. 30 years later, the memory of “Commendator” which initiated one of the most beautiful stories in automobiles and motorsport, remains alive.

After launching its first competition models in the wake of the Second World War, the Transalpin accumulated success in F1, or even in sports car racing. Inseparable from the premier category in car, Ferrari is increasingly developing its road models in parallel with its sporting commitment.

“He was a man with extraordinary vision and ability to manage people and resources, as well as a strong entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional courage, admitted at the beginning of the year the late Sergio Marchionne, president of Ferrari and FIAT who recently passed away.

One wonders what he could have done if he had access to today's technical resources and knowledge. The mark he left on the world remains a source of pride for all of us at Ferrari and for all of Italy. »

“Enzo Ferrari was physically absent from Ferrari for 30 years, since August 14, 1988, but never really left it, because the people who worked with him transmitted to their colleagues the passion and respect for the work that he considered it almost as a vocation, the brand further specifies this Tuesday.

Like the 40 F1987, the last car personally approved by Enzo, all current Ferraris highlight the passion written in their DNA. Ferrari still stands out in the automobile market as well as on the track, because every car that bears the Prancing Horse on its body is still driven by Enzo Ferrari's dream, a dream come true. »
