Ericsson: “A clearly disappointing season”

Marcus Ericsson's future is uncertain for the 2018 season. The Swede approaches each Grand Prix knowing that it will be difficult for him to fight for points on a regular basis. While the Scandinavian is without a contract for next year, he is still looking to stand out at the back of the pack.

“It’s clearly a disappointing season., confessed Marcus Ericsson on the official F1 website. I want to score and fight for points in all races, but this year has been tougher than all the others with the old Power Unit of Ferrari. The first part of the season was not fun, but the second half was even harder. Even if I don't have any points, I can say that I had some great races. »

Clean F1 Team made important choices to leave the back of the peloton. Team Principal Monisha Kaltenborn was notably replaced by Frédéric Vasseur during the season. The 2018 deal with Honda was also canceled.

“With his great knowledge of motorsport and his strong character, Fred has already made important decisions, confirmed Marcus Ericsson. Honda raised many questions and Ferrari has been a long-standing partner. So it’s probably not a bad thing for the team. I think he is the right person. »

Marcus Ericsson could be replaced by Charles Leclerc or Antonio Giovinazzi at a time when Ferrari is looking to place its young drivers in F1. Marcus Ericsson's best results include two 11th places in Spain and Azerbaijan.
