At the end of the first part of the post-season test day in Abu Dhabi, Isack Hadjar displayed a confident and serene face. The Frenchman who narrowly missed out on the title in Formula 2 after a false start in the last round, was there in the car of Max Verstappen. The opportunity to line up 125 laps aboard the Red Bull single-seater. "I did quite a few laps, and from the first two stints, I had good feelings" said the French driver, visibly satisfied with this morning.

Being part of Red Bull Junior Team, the French driver was happy to have time in the car : “Doing a lot of laps really helps you feel more comfortable.” Present four times during Free Practice over the last two seasons, he considers that these occurrences are too scattered to get to grips with the car properly. : “Every time, we forget a little bit what it feels like.” Isack Hadjar finds "nice to get into a rhythm" on more than consecutive turns.

Tests aimed at an almost certain future

These tests, carried out within the Red Bull stable, allowed the 20-year-old driver to carry out tests "performance on fast laps, as well as long runs" then, at the end of the morning, to devote oneself "to aerodynamic tests, and therefore test things for the team." For Isack Hadjar, each additional round is a way to gain confidence: "I felt comfortable with the car right away."

Despite his disappointment in F2, Hadjar seems to have won over Red Bull and its antechamber Racing Bulls, who could entrust him with a seat for the coming year. "I don't think I have a particular driving style, but I feel really comfortable in this car" he repeated, showing once again that his ability to adapt behind the wheel of the F1 made him ready to jump in at the deep end.

Wrong. Hadjar is not a good driver. Beaten in F2. Big mistake. Ocon...here is an excellent driver who is going to show Alpine. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Go, go Ocon.
