F1 testing – Bottas sets the new benchmark

The teams took advantage of better weather to carry on the relays in this second morning of testing at the Red Bull Ring (Austria). Shod with super soft tires, Valtteri Bottas (Williams) had no trouble beating the time of pascal wehrlein made the day before. The Finn set a time of 1'10"029, 2 tenths ahead of the German who is racing with version B of the VJM07 in this session.

Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) completes the leading trio in front Fernando Alonso (McLaren) who is working on the new version of the MP4-30 featuring the new nose seen at the Austrian GP on June 21. The Asturian was, however, the most discreet on the track this morning. Felipe Nasr (Sauber) is in the top five ahead Jolyon Palmer (Lotus) and Esteban Gutierrez (Ferrari).

Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) and Mark Wittman (Toro Rosso) complete the list, but the Taureau Rouge single-seaters were the most diligent with more than 70 laps covered.
