F1 testing – Hamilton stays ahead in rain

Lewis Hamilton maintained the fastest time on the final day of F1 testing of the week in Barcelona. The rain increased this afternoon, limiting the teams' program.

F1 testing – Hamilton stays ahead in rain

Lewis Hamilton remains at the top of the timesheet at the end of the last day of testing F1 on the Circuit de Catalunya with a time of 1’23”212 achieved this morning when the track was dry. The rain arrived again during the break and the circuit remained soaked this afternoon, forcing the teams to limit their programs. The drivers mainly worked on holding the grooved tires and making pit stops.

There were still numerous interruptions with several leaving the track. Jules Bianchi, author of the fourth time of the day (1'25"732) at 2"450 from the reference time, was the most diligent on the track with only 51 laps covered. The pilot of the Ferrari Driver Academy also brought the session to a premature end by stopping at the pit exit. Felipe Massa follows with 47 laps on the clock and the seventh fastest time of the day (1'27"563). Williams F1 Team did not complete a single timed lap despite the 36 laps covered by Valtteri Bottas and Pastor Maldonado, the Venezuelan having replaced his Finnish teammate this afternoon.

Sergio Pérez maintains the best time of the week with a time of 1’21”848 achieved on the second day. Fernando Alonso was the only other driver to break the 1'22 mark with a time of 1'21"875 achieved the following day. the two strokes were made on soft tires.
