Esteban Ocon: “I would not change any of the decisions made”

Your chances of being on the 2019 grid are now close to zero. What does this inspire you?

I am disappointed to see that factors override the results. Disappointed with how it all turned out. Disappointed to see us in this situation after all the good work that has been done. Disappointed that two months ago we had two solid options and we are nowhere today.

You had the opportunity to join McLaren but gave priority to Renault. Do you regret it?

If I had to do it again, I wouldn't change any of the decisions made. I ran the scenario a hundred times in my head and always came to the same conclusion: we made the right decisions given the information we had. It was impossible to imagine that things would turn against me when everything seemed settled.

Renault's about-face is costing you dearly. Do you blame them?

That’s how they made their choice. They must have their reason which I don't know. No, I don't blame them. Renault is a major manufacturer. It's a team that I like, with which I have strong ties. She helped me develop as a driver and I don't forget her.
