Esteban Ocon: “The approach must be done step by step”

The Norman impatiently awaits his first laps in the streets of the Principality. “Riding in Monaco will be a new experience for me since I have never raced there in my life, comments the Force India driver.

I used to come and watch the races there when I was younger, but I never had the opportunity to race there. It's strange because the track is so famous and I know it very well, but it's still a different experience than actually driving on the track. »

Esteban Ocon believes that the first tests will be crucial for the rest of the weekend even if he feels rather confident. “I spent a lot of time at the factory in the simulator to prepare for Monaco, but I will still have a lot to learn during free practice on Thursday. The approach must be done step by step to gently reach the limit. I usually like city circuits and I'm sure I can reach my top speed quickly. »

After the first top 5 of his career obtained in Spain, Esteban Ocon arrives with good momentum for what he describes as the closest to a Grand Prix at home. He is one of only two drivers to have never driven in Monaco, the second being Lance stroll.
