Haas F1 Team had a difficult weekend in Miami and ended up with an 11th place finish for Ollie Bearman and a P13 for Esteban OconThe Frenchman, the only casualty of the French team, lost in a matter of seconds. Pierre Gasly And Isack Hadjar, although he saw the checkered flag, leaves Florida without a single point in his pocket: this is already the third time this season that Ocon has left empty-handed from a Grand Prix weekend.

A conclusion which, according to the native of Évreux, was inevitable: “I don’t think it would have been enough to score points today, but we perhaps could have done better, especially after the pit stop. We lost a lot of time and positions, so maybe we could have pitted earlier. The best we could have done today would have been P11, so we wouldn’t have scored points anyway.”he mentioned in an interview with our colleagues at Canal+.
Esteban Ocon wants to focus on the positives from Miami before Montreal
Nevertheless, the winner of the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix wants to draw positive lessons from his performance. « "We were lacking a bit of performance, that's for sure, but there are a lot of positives to take away, a lot of things we learned this weekend that can help us for the rest of the championship. I think there are things we could have done better, and that's a positive thing; it means we shouldn't make the same mistakes in the upcoming races."he indicated. Indeed, major upgrades are planned for his Haas VF-26 in preparation for the Canadian Grand Prix on May 24th, which should give Esteban Ocon some much-needed boost. "I'm looking forward to seeing what the car has in store for us in Montreal, I'm eager to see how it will develop there."he mentioned.

Esteban Ocon needs to react quickly
There is, indeed, a great need for things to change for Esteban Ocon. With just one point to his name after four races this season, painstakingly earned at Suzuka before the enforced break, the Frenchman is currently 16 points behind his young teammate Oliver Bearman. The Briton is only in his second full season in Formula 1, while Ocon will celebrate his 10th year at the pinnacle of motorsport, albeit interrupted by a sabbatical in 2019, at the end of next summer. Esteban Ocon must therefore seize every opportunity that may present itself very soon in order to reverse the trend and regain leadership within the team, especially since it is Bearman who is currently carrying the team: while Miami didn't allow the young driver to score any points either, he has clearly been the lifeblood of Haas F1 Team since the start of the season.
