Esteban Ocon: “Our strength is to score points in every race”

Esteban Ocon hopes to continue his good season in Sochi. The Frenchman appeared very smiling before the start of this Russian weekend. His objective is to enter the top 10 this Sunday to consolidate 5th placeAlpine in the constructors’ championship: “ We have to score points, no matter what they are. Our strength is to score points in each race ». 

On a circuit with long straight lines which favor engine power, Alpine may be in difficulty compared to some of its competitors. This doesn't worry the winner of the 2021 Hungarian Grand Prix : " Of course, we have to work on this point. At Monza, we still had a good top speed so we can make the difference in the race. We are better in certain aspects, like reliability for example ». 

The expected rain in Sochi could also change the cards but the Norman does not think that it would necessarily help the French team: “ In 2020, we entered Q3 and finished 5th and 7th in the dry in the race so we are performing well. Rain brings opportunities to everyone. In 2015, in GP3, I drove here on wet asphalt. The trail was smooth and the water was stagnant with lots of puddles. I don't know if it's always like that, the tarmac must have evolved. »
