Esteban Ocon: “something special in Singapore”

Reintroduced in 2008 after more than thirty years of absence, the Singapore Grand Prix is one of the attractions of the calendar being one of the two races taking place at night with Bahrain, and, like Monaco, between the streets and impressive buildings.

« There's something special about Singapore, says Esteban Ocon, you run under the lights and the atmosphere is unique. It’s very glamorous with fans and guests partying at night during the race. But on the other hand, it is a physical challenge.

« It's hot and very humid, and we lose a lot of water when we fly. It's one of those places where everything has to be perfect in the car, because you suffer whenever you're not in the right position or the seat has a problem.."

The time difference is one of the keys to the Grand Prix with an event taking place at night, at the same times as the European events. Fatigue associated with tropical conditions in harder-to-drive 2017 cars doesn't faze the Force India driver.

« I don't mind the weird weekend format. I like the fact that we keep European schedules, we wake up late, the days are shorter and we can sleep a lot. This is my favorite format: I'm a heavy sleeper and in Singapore, you can sleep 12 hours ! "

In 2016, Esteban Ocon finished 18e of the Grand Prix with Manor.
