Esteban Ocon aimed for better result in China

Two Grands Prix and two points finishes. Esteban Ocon For the moment, he is strictly respecting his schedule of finishing in the top 10 in each race. The Force India driver, however, had a disrupted start to the race due to a disagreement with his Force India team.

“We had the right strategy and started the race with the right tires, but on the second lap, there was a misunderstanding with the team and I went back through the pit lane without stopping to change tires, commented Ocon.

I wasn't supposed to go back and it cost me at least 15 seconds. This was the result of the confusion of those first few laps, as everyone filed into the pits. »

Progress in Bahrain?

Taking advantage of a VJM10 to his liking in Shanghai, Esteban Ocon was finally able to move up the rankings to finish in the wake of his teammate Sergio Pérez, ninth in China. A result which, however, leaves it with a taste of unfinished business.

“Finishing in the top ten in China is a nice turnaround, but I still think I could have finished a little higher, underlines the Norman. It's a shame to waste time like that, but in the end we got a point and that's positive. »

After two events that he was discovering, Esteban Ocon will return to the Sakhir track this weekend, a track where he was able to compete during the year of his GP3 Series title in 2015 (with a third then a second place during the two rounds, Editor's note).

A knowledge of the field that the former European champion of F3 intends to take advantage of it to progress in the hierarchy, and continue its start to the championship which is currently in line with its ambitions.
