Critical but stable condition for Maria de Villota

On Tuesday, while testing straight at the wheel of the Marussia MR-01 at Duxford aerodrome, Maria de Villota was the victim of a terrible accident (see here). Very seriously injured in the head, the Spaniard was treated at Addenbrooke hospital. Yesterday, the Russian team announced that its reserve had lost his right eye (see here). Information regarding Maria de Villota's condition is scant. But today, his sister Isabel gave some news, speaking of “critical but stable condition”.

Here is the letter from Isabel de Villota:

Maria remains in a critical but stable condition here at Addenbrooke's Hospital. Although there is no more precise news at the moment, we were at least able to find courage in the fact that Maria remained in a stable condition since the accident, especially during the first night, which followed a long surgical intervention.

We, the family, support each other alongside Maria, and take comfort from the remarkable medical care she receives. We remain positive, and this is largely due to the support and affection Maria receives from all corners of the world.

We would also like to thank each member of Marussia F1 Team for all the support and attention they have given him over the last few days.
