Developments expected at Sauber

After the legal setbacks with the Giedo van der Garde affair in Australia, the fifth place of Felipe Nasr and the eighth of Marcus Ericsson during the Melbourne race was an unexpected but very important result for Sauber, with a view to the Manufacturers' championship.

If since then, the C34s with engine Ferrari were less visible, the point collected by Ericsson in Hungary broke a series of three events without scoring a single point. Renewed for 2016 just before the Budapest event, the two pilots ofHinwil are eagerly awaiting the second part of the season.

« I can't wait to race with the car equipped with the updates, Nasr explains. As we haven't piloted it yet, we can't accurately predict the outcome. The objective is to get back into the points. In the championship, we have slipped down the hierarchy and I think it will not be easy to climb back up. However, I am confident that the developments will help us to be in a better position. »

Help which could prove valuable if the men of Team Principal Monisha Kaltenborn want to return to the fight for fifth place in the championship, while monitoring the return of McLaren-Honda, which, with fifth place in Fernando Alonso in Hungary, came closer to five units.

In parallel with its highly anticipated new features, development work on the future 35 C2016 will continue in Switzerland, benefiting in particular from the early extension of the driver duo for the next financial year. “We can get much more involved in this work, specifies Ericsson. We can head in the direction we want the car to go. »
