“Extravagant”, “spectacular”, “a unique challenge”: Red Bull drivers describe Monaco

As many players in Formula 1, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber are full of praise for the Monaco Grand Prix, which begins this weekend in the streets of the principality. An event that they appreciate all the more as they have both already won it, in 2011 for the German, in 2010 and 2012 for the Australian, thus offering Red Bull the last three successes to date. “Monaco is one of my favorite circuits and driving there is an absolute challenge”, explains the three-time reigning world champion. “You can't even make the slightest mistake: if you make one, are you lucky if you only get bad weather? If you're not careful, you'll end up in the rail. » As for overtaking, known to be extremely difficult on the rock, Sebastian Vettel believes that it is possible but always risky: “The best place for that is just before the chicane. We exit the narrow tunnel at 300 km/h until the chicane which takes place in first gear. The last one to brake wins. »

For his part, Mark Webber describes the Monte-Carlo event in three words: “spectacular”, “extravagant”, “exciting”. “If I were a spectator, I would place myself at the left-right level at the entrance to the swimming pool, after the Tabac turn”, imagines the Australian. The Monaco Grand Prix has even more of a special flavor for the Red Bull driver, since he experienced some of the greatest moments of his career there, such as his first podium in 2005 (with Williams, Editor’s note) and his two victories. “My victory in 2010 is one of the best memories of my entire life”, he confides.
