F1 / Bahrain: Rosberg bet on tires

Nico Rosberg will only start from fifth place in Bahrain but the German preferred to keep his soft tires for the race. On a circuit renowned for its abrasiveness, the Mercedes driver did not want to take any risks.

After taking pole and victory in Shanghai, Nico Rosberg was expected in Bahrain to see if Mercedes could confirm his solid performances. The Silver Arrows are still under threat of serious damage in the heat and Nico Rosberg's fifth place at the end of qualifying offers good hopes for the German.
