F1-EL1: Hamilton ahead of Rosberg in Montreal

Mercedes showed himself at ease on the Gilles Villeneuve track in Montreal at the end of the first free practice session for the Canadian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton, despite an error during the session at the hairpin, came ahead, thanks to a better time established in 1'16 "212, by more than four tenths his teammate Nico Rosberg.

Behind the Silver Arrows duo, the gaps are significant. Romain Grosjean places its Lotus E23 Hybrid in third position more than 1″5 from the two German single-seaters. Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) completes the leading quartet 100% powered by the star's engine ahead of the first Ferrari SF15-T Sebastian Vettel. Felipe Massa (Williams) finished 6th just in front of Red Bull RB11 by Daniil Kvyat. Pastor Maldonado (Lotus), Fernando Alonso (McLaren) and Max Verstappen (Toro Rosso) climb into the top 10.

Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) and Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) were discreet in this session by ranking 12th and 14th, just like Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso), whose car stopped at the end of the pit lane, forcing her mechanics to bring her back to the stroller. Jenson Button (McLaren) suffered gearbox problems early in the session before finally finishing 15th.
