Lewis Hamilton remained fastest in the second practice session for the Chinese GP. Kimi Räikkönen was the closest to the Mercedes driver.

F1-EL2: Hamilton stays the course at the Chinese GP

Lewis Hamilton remains the fastest at the end of the second practice session of the Chinese GP in Shanghai. With a time of 1'37"219, the pilot Mercedes beat almost all of its competitors by more than a second. Only Kimi Räikkönen (Ferrari) showed himself at the level of the reigning world champion, scoring four tenths of the reference. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) completes the top three in front Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) and Nico Rosberg (Mercedes) who missed his lap on soft tires.

Daniil Kvyat (Red Bull) is in 6th place, even if the Russian missed the end of the session after encountering a problem with his brakes. Valtteri Bottas (Williams) follows in 7th place, his teammate Felipe Massa having lost control of his car on braking putting an end to his day of testing.

Romain Grosjean (Lotus), replaced by Jolyon Palmer during the first session, set the 9th fastest time between the Sauber of Felipe Nasr and the McLaren by Jenson Button. Pastor Maldonado (Lotus) follows in 11th position ahead Fernando Alonso (McLaren). Toro Rosso is behind with Max Verstappen only 14th ahead Carlos Sainz Jr, the two rookies pointing behind Marcus Ericsson (Sauber). Force India is still discreet with Nico Hulkenberg 16th and Sergio Pérez 18th. The Manor complete the list with Roberto Merhi and Will Stevens.

The final practice session for the Chinese GP will be contested tomorrow from 6 a.m. (live on Canal+ Sport). Qualifying will follow at 9 a.m. and will be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr.
