F1-EL2: Massa leads rainy session in Sochi

Felipe Massa (Williams) was the fastest in the second practice session for the Russian GP disrupted by showers limiting the drivers' running. The Brazilian took advantage of his last flying lap to set the benchmark for the afternoon with a lap completed in 2'00"458 in Sochi. It precedes by two tenths Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) and Valtteri Bottas (Williams).

Max Verstappen (Toro Rosso) follows three tenths ahead Fernando Alonso (McLaren), the most diligent on the track in this session with 12 all covered. Daniil Kvyat hoisted the first Red Bull sixth in front Carlos Sainz Jr (Toro Rosso) and Jenson Button (McLaren). Only eight drivers set a time.

Six other drivers did not even take to the track in the session. Among them, Romain Grosjean (Lotus) did not drive all day, the Frenchman having given up his place this morning to test driver Jolyon Palmer.

After a shortened first session, the last practice session should be productive since the weather should be dry. The track will be open from 11 a.m.
