F1-EL2: Vettel ahead of Rosberg in Austria

With a turn of Red Bull Ring completed in 1’09”600 signed on super soft tires, Sebastian Vettel established the best time of the first day of testing for the Austrian GP by 11 thousandths ahead of the Mercedes by Nico Rosberg. The pilot Ferrari however suffered from a gearbox problem at the end of the session.

Lewis Hamilton, the second Mercedes driver, only took 5th place behind Kimi Räikkönen and Pastor Maldonado after missing his flying laps. The double world champion is ahead Nico Hulkenberg et Romain Grosjean, While Max Verstappen, Felipe Nasr and Sergio Pérez complete the top ten.

The McLaren have still driven little in this session, just like Daniel Ricciardo who only took 18th place after remaining in the pits for a long time.
