F1-EL3: Red Bull shows up in the rain at Silverstone

Red Bull finished first in the final practice session for the British Grand Prix disrupted by light rain and a wet track. Sebastian Vettel achieved the best time of the morning with a lap in 1'52"522 with the intermediate tires. The four-time world champion beat his teammate by a tenth Daniel Ricciardo. Single-seaters powered by Renault stood out since the Lotuses were the closest, Pastor Maldonado being half a second behind while his teammate Romain Grosjean is the first more than a second from the reference time.

Adrian Sutil also took advantage of the bad conditions to stand out by setting the fifth fastest time ahead of the Toro Rosso by Daniil Kvyat and the McLaren de Kevin Magnussen and Jenson Button. Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Räikkönen complete the top ten ahead of Jean-Éric Vergne who is two seconds behind the best time. His compatriot Jules Bianchi set the 17th time before being the victim of an off-track event in Stowe. Mercedes F1 took no risks since Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton did not complete a single timed lap, thus retaining their grooved tires for the rest of the weekend. Fernando Alonso adopted the same strategy.

Qualifying for the British Grand Prix will be contested from 14 p.m. (French time) and can be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr.
