F1-EL3: Rosberg fastest in Abu Dhabi GP practice

Nico Rosberg set the best time in free practice for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by setting a time of 1'41"424 at Yas Marina with the super soft tyres. His teammate Lewis Hamilton is obviously the closest even if the Briton concedes more than three tenths to his rival for the title. Felipe Massa follows in 3rd position but the driver Williams is already a second behind the reference. The Brazilian precedes Fernando Alonso who was still only able to complete a handful of laps before ending his session so that the Team change his engine.

Sebastian Vettel completes the top five with a tenth ahead of Jenson Button and Daniel Ricciardo. Valtteri Bottas finished in 8th place with more than 3 tenths behind his teammate. The Finn precedes Daniil Kvyat who further highlights himself by relegating Jean-Éric Vergne to half a second, the Frenchman in 12th place behind Kimi Räikkönen and Kevin Magnussen. Force India follows second Toro Rosso, while the Sauber of Esteban Gutiérrez precedes the Lotus of Pastor Maldonado and Romain Grosjean grouped into half a tenth. Adrian Sutil and the Caterhams Kamui Kobayashi and Will Stevens complete the list, the rookie still trailing the Japanese by almost a second.

Qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be contested from 14 p.m.
