F1-EL3: Rosberg leads a lively session in Monaco

The last free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix was marked by several accidents. Felipe Massa lost control of his Ferrari at the Sainte-Dévote corner. The damage to his F138 seems too great for the Team could repair it in time for qualifying, but the Sao Paulista seemed unscathed coming out of his car. Adrian Sutil was the second to be trapped by oversteering in Massenet. Finally, the last red flag is to be put under Romain Grosjean. After a slight contact with the barrier causing a puncture, the Lotus driver was trapped again at the first corner and tore off the left rear wheel in the final moments of the session.

The Frenchman was nevertheless on a good pace with his super soft tires as he set the second time six tenths behind Nico Rosberg who was once again imperial in this session with a best time of 1'14"378. But traffic and interruptions limited the drivers' chances of improving their times. Sebastian Vettel thus finished in third place with eight tenths behind, but the driver Red Bull achieved his best lap on soft tires. The three-time world champion is ahead of Fernando and Lewis Hamilton, while Kimi Räikkönen is the first driver more than a second behind. Mark Webber finished in seventh place ahead of Paul di Resta. Pastor Maldonado is in ninth place while the driver Williams didn't have time to improve with the super soft tires. Nico Hulkenberg completes the top ten ahead of Sergio Pérez and Jenson Button who also did their best laps with the yellow wall tires.

Jean-Eric Vergne finished in 13th place with a tenth ahead of his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Charles Pic is two tenths ahead of his teammate Giedo van der Garde. Caterham F1 Team once again dominated the Marussias with almost a second ahead of Jules Bianchi and Max Chilton.

Qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix will be contested from 14 p.m. and can be followed live on AUTOhebdo.fr. Slight risks of showers worried the teams even if the sun was there for this last practice session.
