F1 / India – Schumacher pessimistic about the end of his career

Michael Schumacher experienced his eighth retirement of the season at the Indian Grand Prix after further contact with Jean-Eric Vergne at the start of the race. If the pilot Mercedes was able to continue after returning to the pits to change tires following his puncture, he preferred to abandon on the 55th lap. This is not the first time that the two drivers have collided, the seven-time world champion having already been hit by the Frenchman's STR7 at the Singapore Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion, who has only three races left before retiring, has not scored points since the Monza race. These poor performances seem to undermine the German's confidence.

“We competed in 17 races and we had eight retirements, or around 50% of the races”, coldly analyzes the Red Baron. “It’s not a statistic that we use frequently, that’s for sure. But we preferred to abandon as a precaution but it was all over after the first turn. It would be good to end the season on a good note but I'm not counting on it and I'm not melancholic about it either. I do my job in the best possible way as long as I can fight for the best places and I try to help the team as much as possible so that things are on point for next season. »
