F1 / India – Webber remains satisfied with his Grand Prix

Mark Webber suffered further mechanical problems on his RB8 at the Indian Grand Prix. While his teammate Sebastian Vettel easily won a fourth consecutive victory by winning for the second year in a row on the Buddh International Circuit, his teammate had to fight hard to save his place on the podium. His RB8 suffered from a faulty SREC from lap 45, a problem which quickly benefited Fernando Alonso who overtook the pilot Red Bull two rounds later. The Australian narrowly saves his third place against Lewis Hamilton who took the checkered flag just seven tenths of a second behind car Austrian.

“It was very difficult to defend my position here because SREC is necessary to get out of this kind of corner (turn 3 preceding the long straight)”, explains Mark Webber who still has a mathematical chance of being titled by being 73 points behind the 75 units available during the last three races of the season. “However, I enjoyed the fight today. It was a difficult race where I had a lot of trouble finding the rhythm. We have a few issues to resolve with the car but my opponents gave me a tough and solid Grand Prix. Lewis (Hamilton) and Fernando (Alonso) were very competitive on the hard tires and it was difficult to face them without the SREC. I am very satisfied with my driving and I will be back in Abu Dhabi. »
