F1: FOTA secedes!

After weeks where the FIA and FOTA played a game of cat and mouse, the standoff between them has just reached another level. Gathered within FOTA, Thursday evening at Silverstone, the bosses of eight of the teams in the current championship marked their firm and definitive opposition to the Formula 1 that the FIA wishes to draw up in 2010. The reservations expressed during their registrations are therefore implemented.

Max Mosley's "fight" is turning to his disadvantage since FOTA claims that it is ready to develop a parallel championship, from 2010. This one, bringing together some of the world's largest automobile manufacturers, would have everything even looks great. At the same time, a Formula 1 championship composed solely of private teams would look poor in comparison. The FIA World Council is due to meet on Wednesday and will have to decide what to do: continue without the manufacturers or do everything to ensure that they return.
