F1: replacements on track

Jaime Alguersuari, appointed this season to Toro Rosso replacing Sébastien Bourdais, had to be content with straight line tests to make his debut in a Formula 1, before joining the Faenza team at the Hungaroring last summer. As for Michael Schumacher, who was to take over from Felipe Massa, he had to be content with Ferrari F2007 before hoping to return to competition. The FIA has corrected the situation, so that this type of aberration does not happen again.

From the next season, drivers joining a team during the season will have the opportunity to take part in a test day. However, this driver must not have participated in a Grand Prix during the last two Formula 1 seasons. A driver like Sébastien Bourdais, ousted from Toro Rosso, would therefore not have this chance if he returned in 2010, during the season.
