F1 – McLaren wants to win straight away in 2013

Sam Michael is already thinking about victory in 2013. The sporting director of McLaren believes that the team?s last two victories, obtained during the last two rounds of the season at the Austin Grand Prix and in Brazil, will allow the team to start the next season on the highest step of the podium. “The car was extremely fast in the last two races and I think we can expect to perform very well next year,” said Sam Michael, interviewed by Sky Sports News. “We will normally have to progress this winter this winter, just as we will do Ferrari et Red Bull as well as the teams who are trying to catch up with us like Lotus and Mercedes. But we are confident that we will do the right things during the winter break to get the season off to a strong start. We will go to Melbourne to win,” warns the Australian.

Although McLaren only finished third in the Constructors' championship in 2012, the team racked up seven victories. A first since 2008, the year of the last Drivers' title won by Lewis Hamilton. ?It?s been a fantastic year for the team. We obviously wanted to do better in terms of championship position, but the car was fast in the end and we are now focused on 2013,” concludes Sam Michael.
