F1 – Red Bull: “It’s much more positive than last year”

Like its engine manufacturer, Red Bull Racing is satisfied with the results of the Jerez tests which ended this week. The Milton Keynes team was able to participate in the four days of testing with its RB11 and thus obtained very different results compared to last year when the debut of the RB10 with the Power Unit of Renault were particularly complicated.

However, the results seem mixed for the Red Bull. If the Toro Rosso STR10 was one of the most diligent in Jerez with more than 1500km completed, the Red Bull RB11 was one of the least active with only 730km on the clock. « It's much more positive than last year », nevertheless assures Christian Horner, Team Principal of Red Bull Racing. “We have concerns but it had nothing to do with the fundamental problems we had last year. It was more what you would expect from a winter test session. »

More Red Bull Racing also lost almost a day tests following an exit from the track by Daniil Kvyat which damaged the front wing of the RB11. The Russian was then only able to carry out installation tours, as the Milton Keynes structure did not have spare parts. “He was superb and acclimatized very well. He had an unfortunate off-track event on his first day behind the wheel of the car, but he was able to provide good feedback on his second day. Overall it was very positive”, added Christian Horner.
