F1/DTM – Di Resta: “I have the skills to succeed in F1”

Paul di Resta had to accept the offer of Mercedes to return to defend the interests of the star manufacturer in DTM after being fired last year by Force India after three seasons spent with Vijay Mallya's team. The Scotsman had a mixed year, finishing only in 12th place in the Championship and the arrival of Sergio Pérez and Nico Hulkenberg worked against him. The native of Uphall therefore returned to the German touring car discipline where he is having a difficult season with only two points finishes (two 4th places), the last dating back to today at the Nürburgring.

If the places in F1 are expensive (in the literal sense of the term), Paul di Resta remains hopeful of returning to the premier single-seater discipline after having competed in 58 Grands Prix. “I loved F1, I love everything about it”, said the 2010 DTM champion in the Scottish Herald. “It’s the best competition and we face the cream of the crop. So it was disappointing not to be there this season. But you have to know how to react to the situation. I think people saw that I had the skills to succeed in F1. I am aware that things are evolving, whether in terms of regulations or crews, and unfortunately I did not have a place. I am still young (28 years old) and I can have another opportunity. I'm doing everything I can to get it. It definitely helps to have financial support, but I worked hard to get my chance. I want to come back to F1 and I will do everything to achieve this goal. »
