Felipe Massa looks back on his accident in Monaco

Felipe Massa had a big scare during the last free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix. The Brazilian failed to brake at Sainte-Dévote before crashing into the safety barrier at the entrance to Sainte-Dévote. The significant damage to the F138 forced the Team to change gearboxes, causing a penalty of five places on the grid. But this punishment will be ineffective since the Paulist was not able to take part in qualifying, the mechanics not having managed to repair his car with only two hours of beating.

“I'm fine, I just have pain here (right shoulder) and neck”, explained Felipe Massa who will leave alongside Jules Bianchi. “I drove over a bump while braking and locked my front wheels. Looking at the direction of the wheels, the car didn't want to turn and I hit the rail on the left. This is the worst place to have these kinds of problems. I saw that the car was quite damaged, especially the suspension and other elements, and I knew it would not be easy to be at the start (of qualifying). »

The last row of the grid will be particularly penalizing for Felipe Massa on an urban track where overtaking is more than dangerous. The Scuderia driver will do his best to aim for the points. “We tried everything. Starting from last place will not be easy. I think we need to try something totally different and see if it works. We have all evening and morning tomorrow to do a deep analysis and try to see what we can do. »
