Felipe Massa fought like the first day

Already widely honored during the Brazilian Grand Prix a fortnight ago at his home in Sao Paolo, Felipe Massa experienced another weekend full of emotions in Abu Dhabi for his last outing in F1.

Williams had announced before the race to offer its driver the car with whom he had competed in the Interlagos race, and Massa did not fail to give his all on the track on the Yas Marina Circuit, for his final laps.

After the abandonment of Valtteri Bottas after six short laps, the former driver Ferrari kept the last hopes of a good result for the Grove team and finally took a ninth place ahead of his ex-teammate Fernando Alonso (McLaren).

“I’m really proud to have fought until the last lap of the race like I did in the first lap of my career, explains Massa after the finish. I want to thank everyone, everyone who has been with me during my career.

Thanks to the fans and to Williams, who I will continue to support in the future. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of everything I have been through. I finished my career with my head held high, the same way I started my career. I also took care of the car because it will now be my car. Thanks again to Williams for this gift! »
