Felipe Massa recovers his health at Suzuka

Since the 2010 Korean Grand Prix, which he finished in 3rd position, Felipe Massa had not tasted the joys of the podium. Author of a good start, the Brazilian quickly moved up the hierarchy to settle in second position after his first stop thanks to an offbeat strategy. He then led a solo race to score the 34th podium of his career in the world championship. Formula 1.

« It's fantastic. After a bad qualification, I started in 10th position and I thought I could finish in 5th place. I got off to a good start and was able to avoid incidents, explains Massa. The car was fast, I was following Jenson [Button] and I knew I was faster than him. When he stopped, I was gaining about 5 tenths per lap. I was even able to overtake Kamui. It was a good race, but it's a shame not to be with Fernando on the podium. Now I hope to be on the podium at every race, and not once every two years! »

Thanks to this 2nd place, Felipe Massa moves up to ninth place in the championship, 13 points behind Romain Grosjean.
