Fernando Alonso demoing the Renault R25 in Abu Dhabi

The Yas Marina Circuit will resonate this weekend with the music of a V10 that has become a true legend in the history of the F1. To mark its last race under the appellation Renault F1 Team, the Diamond brand will carry out a demonstration this weekend on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix with Fernando Alonso behind the wheel of the R25.

A few weeks before becoming Alpine F1 Team and to see the double Spanish world champion regain a starting place in its ranks, Renault will thus celebrate more than forty years of presence in F1, 399 Grands Prix, 35 victories and two Manufacturers' titles.

Three runs will be carried out tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday in the Emirates, with a car now integrated into the Renault Classic department.

“The chassis restoration began in 2019 with Rennwerk in order to run the car at the 2020 French Grand Prix before the project was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, says Renault.

However, the program restarted in October 2020 and required more than fifty hours of work to overhaul the engine. Viruses. Barely two weeks later, the V10 came to life at the Rennwerk workshop and the R25 made its first run on the La Ferté Gaucher circuit in mid-November. »

“It is very moving to see the R25 roaring its engine again and the presence of Fernando behind the wheel is the icing on the cake. This association left its mark in F1 with one of Renault's greatest achievements in motorsport, described Cyril Abiteboul, director of Renault Sport Racing.

If the car symbolizes our past achievements, Fernando reflects our strong ambition for success to recapture these incredible moments and emotions. Of course, all results will now be under the name Alpine, but our future successes will all be a tribute to this exceptional period in Renault’s F1 history. »

Before opening another under the name, also mythical, ofAlpine ?
