According to the Spanish press, Fernando Alonso has passed the first medical examinations at the University of Cambridge (Great Britain) and will therefore make the trip to Sepang with the hope of competing in the Malaysian GP this weekend. The Asturian will still have to be examined by Jean-Charles Piette, the FIA doctor, and by a doctor from the circuit. Pilot reflexes McLaren will be evaluated there.
Fernando Alonso missed the start of the season in Melbourne (Australia) following his accident during winter testing in Barcelona (Spain), the circumstances of which remain mysterious.
