Ferrari: Alonso-Massa, things are heating up!

Fernando Alonso, since his arrival at Ferrari, has often had the right to this question: “how are your relations with Felipe Massa”? If he has always responded with a reassuring tone, this time the Spaniard has given all fans reason to worry. On the 20th lap, the two Ferrari drivers took to the pit lane to change tires, due to the return of rain. In the bend of this access road, Fernando Alonso overtook Felipe Massa, allowing him to stop before the Brazilian, who had to wait a few seconds behind his teammate before changing tires (see video).

« I came out of the pin less well, Felipe Massa tells us. I skated a little, Fernando got closer and he made me inside. It?s sure, it cost me a lot of places. » Asked about the risk taken by his teammate in this overtake, the Brazilian did not respond, simply rolling his eyes. He has reason to blame his teammate, who certainly played the move well but, between two teammates, the maneuver seems difficult to accept.

Moreover, Fernando Alonso believes that he has nothing to reproach himself for, except for being part of the same team as the driver he cleverly overtook. “ I was at his height, I took the opportunity to pass him, replies the Spaniard. It?s not an aggressive move, I was simply better placed than him. » Furthermore, the double World Champion believes that this Chinese Grand Prix will not harden relations between the two men. “ I don't think so, it's just that we're in the same stable. That’s why it’s causing a lot of talk. If I had been a different color, we wouldn?t have talked about it as much. »

If the Spaniard affirms that nothing will change, relations between the two teammates are still likely to harden. One thing is certain, they will no longer give each other any gifts and mutual collaboration seems difficult to imagine. It promises for the rest of the season. But Ferrari will surely clear things up because the Scuderia hopes not to experience what it experienced McLaren in 2007, when strained relations between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton had hurt the Woking team.
