Ferrari anticipates its engine evolution

Ferrari had no choice but to work hard to counter the domination of Mercedes at the start of the season. The Prancing Horse will therefore arrive at the Spanish GP this weekend on the Catalunya circuit with an engine upgrade which was initially planned for the Canadian Grand Prix on June 9.

“We are currently behind in the championship and we need to catch up. This means that our development work will be essential this season, explained Scuderia Team Principal Mattia Binotto. If we brought a new aero package to Baku (end of April), we will still have developments in this area in Barcelona. As a bonus, we will have a new Power Unit that we are implementing faster than expected since it had to be implemented for Canada. »

“Shell has developed a new formula for its lubricants working with our team which will also be used with this new Power Unit. This will increase performance, promised Maurizio Arrivabene’s replacement. It was only through great efforts by all staff that we were able to bring about these developments. »

Scuderia Ferrari is 74 points behind Mercedes after the first four Grands Prix. The Silver Arrows remain undefeated this year.
