Ferrari would have liked to run more at Jerez

Kimi Räikkönen concluded the tests in Jerez (Spain) by setting the best time of the week with a lap completed in 1'20"841 with the soft tyres. The Finn was still able to complete the laps with 105 loops completed (464km), or almost 200 over the two days. “We made good progress this winter and this car is clearly better than that of 2014”, declared the 2007 world champion after the tests. “While the whole package is improving, there is still work to be done. We don't compare ourselves to others and we focus on our program. The conditions of the last day were quite difficult with a strong wind on the track but it's the same for everyone. »

James Allison, the technical director of the Team, is satisfied with the tests even if he would have liked to accumulate even more data. The SF15-T may have covered more than 1500km, Mercedes W06 Hybrid has completed nearly 2300. “We are leaving the circuit without having met all our expectations because we would have liked to ride even more and because we want to be ever faster”, commented the former Lotus engineer F1 team. “But we can still be satisfied because we got off to a good start. »

Maurizio Arrivabene, Team Principal of the Scuderia, was also satisfied even if he is focused on the long-term future. “Comparing these tests to last year, the last few days have brought encouraging signs. The team worked well, both at the factory and on the track. But above all I am delighted to see that the group is rediscovering motivation and team spirit. In terms of performance, I don't believe that our opponents, one in particular, showed their true performance. We will only be able to see them during the final test session in Barcelona. My attention is now turned to Paris where tomorrow's meeting will decide the future of the discipline (with a possible new engine by 2017). »
