Ferrari soon with its “F-duct”

Ferrari could well be the next team to adopt the "F-duct", a system which allows a flow of air to rush under the hull of the car to emerge at the rear wing and reduce downforce at high speed. After Sauber, the first team to have adapted the system inducted by McLaren, most teams have started working on this system, except Renault, who does not see much interest in it.

On the other hand, Ferrari is working on this system and hopes to take advantage of it as quickly as possible, in order to gain top speed in a straight line. “ We found that the benefit it gives is really significant, says Stefano Domenicali, team manager. We will bring it to the track as soon as possible, when we are sure that it will be ready and reliable. »

Even if this system is not prohibited by the regulation, certain players in the F1 claim that it does not correspond to the spirit of the discipline. Before the start of the season, Red Bull had requested that the McLaren be inspected, hoping that this finding would be rejected. The system was validated and, since then, several teams have been working on it.
